It’s great to be here in our second year of the EV Li-ion Battery Forum. A lot has been happening since the first event in Shanghai in 2009. What a year it has been indeed, especially with new vehicles that have been launched, exciting reasearch on materials has raised many questions and a lot more inspiring entrepreneurial spirit has been displayed. We believe we have been able to capture most of that in our 2010 programme!

We have also noticed that a lot more conferences on the subject have taken place worldwide. Why, do you ask should we have another conference on EVs & batteries for EVs? Well, the main reason is that we believe we can bring something new to the full value chain in a way that it has not been done before. The other reason is that 85% of the attendees who attended last year’s Forum, rated the event on the evaluation forms as “very good”.

So how different is this conference or what’s new this year? Firstly, we have the participation from many more vehicle manufacturers and battery manufacturers with more concrete results to share. In this present moment, we have 55 Speakers, including: 17 vehicle manufacturers and 10 battery manufacturers from 16 different countries so you can really capture a truly worldwide perspective. We are also the only conference in Asia to include speakers from vehicle manufacturers covering 2 wheels, 4 wheels and Bus/Commercial Vehicles applications. Secondly, we sought out new speakers who do not often appear on other events covering topics which tend not to be discussed in other conferences. Thirdly we have inserted a special session called “The Elevator Pitch” where entrepreneurs and researchers will pitch “live on stage” new solutions to a team of investors from DFJ, VANTAGEPOINT, KPCB and CHINA ENVIRONMENT FUND (please see our website for full details).
